Swell Gibson is a funk trio that utilizes the classic trio instrumentation of organ, guitar, and drums to create jammy, soulful music in the spirit of Jimmy Smith, Medeski Martin and Wood, and Soulive. Hammond Organ artist, Tris Duncan, along with Andy Ellsworth (guitar), and Tony Hundtoft (drums) cover funk classics by these artists at any given performance, alongside a handful of originals and instrumental twists on recognizable rock and pop songs. The individual members' consummate musicianship has kept them quite busy over the years in support of other artists too, including Macy Gray, George Clinton, Louis Prima Jr., and Mary Wilson. Collectively, however, they find some of their greatest musical joy playing as Swell Gibson…"organ trio music for those with brave hearts!”
